Picked up several supposed RPM's this week. None were attributed, so, I have been attempting to do so (my first). Anyway, I think I am way over my head. What I know for sure is that my usb microscope is not adequate, it takes both hands to hold it and focus; it is not very precise, I have to really work to get a decent focus. Anyway, is this '55D a rpm or not? Opinions needed-help.  |

Your pix is grainy but kinda looks like an RPM.

Hi jprineI use a USB microscope also and I can see that you took your picture directly over your coin as per the shine on the picture. I am NO expert,but if you tilt your USB and refocus it at a slight angle you will get the NON shiny affect as per my pic below...Also my program takes the picture, not the button on the scope...  |

John1-I am using a Celestron model 44306 (I fully realize that the loose nut may be with the operator). Any suggestions?

jprine, I have the 44302. I use a small zip-lock bag filled with sand and then put into a sock. Then lay it over the back of the stand and cable. I use the program that came with it to (snap) the pic and not the button on top of the scope. John1 |

jprineJohn1 uses the USB as pictured below, that has a tripod stand...It is the one I also use and have had no problems, but as John1 said and I said earlier, DO NOT use the snap button, use the program that you use with it to take the picture.
