I've had some good Coinstar luck the past few months... on Christmas Eve, the closest CVS machine yielded me 1964 and 1964-D quarters.     In 2023, I've already tallied five silver dimes and a 1946 Wheat cent...   January 25th, a Ralphs/Kroger CS yielded 1960D and 1964 dimes  4 days later, the same CVS which yielded those Christmas Eve '64 quarters, yielded me a 1954-D dime.  On February 8th, a different Ralphs/Kroger yielded me a 1962 Philadelphia dime...  This was a significant find because it was a hole filler for me - I've been trying to build a CRH/Coinstar/Circ Finds set of silver Roosevelt dimes and this leaves me needing only the 1950-S, all three 1955 coins, and the 1960 Philly to complete my set. On February 26th, that local CVS's Coinstar yielded me a 1961-D dime.  Hoping that my good Coinstar luck continues long into 2023! CRH Nickeloholic. 1,600,000 nickels searched in eight years! Have found FOUR complete Jefferson sets!

I finally found some coins from the local Safeway Coinstar today. That was my first time ever finding anything. Unfortunately, everything was clad, except for a 1964 copper penny. But I got 50 cents or something for free, which isn't bad, I guess.

Technically wasn't a Coinstar, but I found 45 cents of loose change in the reject bin.

Thanks, cabowabo! And, yes, just keep plugging away... eventually something will show up if you're persistent. In my experience, loner reject Coinstar coins quite often tend to be silver dimes (maybe 25% of the time). CRH Nickeloholic. 1,600,000 nickels searched in eight years! Great find, cabowabo! Yesterday afternoon, I went to grab some coins at one of my normal branches which happens to have three Coinstars within short walking distance. Anyways, as I approached the last one, I noticed it was chock full of change in the reject bin! Closer inspection revealed it was almost all nickels... there were 175 coins total -146 nickels, 8 dimes, 2 quarters, 15 pennies, and 4 Mexican coins... $8.75 in free money! Amongst that group, I found three keepers - 1948, 1954, and 2009-D nickels. I'm guessing the machine had reached its capacity in nickels and just overflowed the ones I ended up with. CRH Nickeloholic. 1,600,000 nickels searched in eight years! Have found FOUR complete Jefferson sets!

I found a dime and around 9 cents in a CoinStar recently at a Pick N' Save; one of the cents was a 1937 Wheat cent! |
