Awesome finds everyone! I have been checking CoinStar reject slots, but have not found anything in the past month. I will keep looking though.

Found some loose change in the reject slot at the local supermarket today. Brought in my pennies to deposit, but the gift card part of the touch screen wasn't working - kept directing me to Texas Roadhouse. I love me some BBQ, but I wanted Amazon gift cards. There also weren't any coins in the reject tray. Anyway, so I went shopping with the fam instead. However, after checking out, as I walked by the Coinstar on the way out, I noticed there were some coins in reject tray, so I grabbed them. It was a little embarrassing, because I usually also make a deposit, but given Jaobler's success, my impulse got the better of me. Unfortunately, I did not find silver or gold, or anything of import, but did score some taco money. My finds were: Zinc cents: 4 Nickels: 3 Dimes: 5 Canadian quarters: 1 Canadian nickel quarters: 2 All in all, I got $0.69 USD + $0.75 CAD, which is not bad. My daughter was happy with the Canadian quarters, which she didn't have before in her foreign coin collection. Cheers!

So, a little bad news locally... both of the CVS stores nearest me pulled their CoinStar machines the past week or so.
Instead of having six machines within a four mile radius of me, I now only have four.
Have hardly found anything (even Zincolns) lately... let alone an actual collectible coin. Hopefully my dry streak ends soon.

John, I have strong suspicions that the cashiers keep a close eye on the CoinStars. But for what they're paid, I really can't begrudge them.
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

Actually, where I live, that's definitely not the case... in all of my time going to the machines only once have I seen a cashier actually go to a CoinStar and retrieve coins from the reject tray. Pretty much every single year since I started doing this, I've found double-digit silver coins, not to mention my famous 71 coin silver hoard from several years ago.

I have often wondered how much change is on the floor underneath the machine.

Don't forget under any adjacent machines such as ATMs or key-maker kiosks.
