I use USPS for shipments to the US, there is a service here in Toronto that gets your package to Niagara Falls the next day for a fee of 25 cents. By the amount you're saving, it's worth it. Before they suspended me on ebay because they found out my age, I used to ship with Canada Post, but get 50% off. If you've ever bought from asyn before on ebay (He sells coins with free shipping very cheap near silver spot price on ebay but the grades are very low), he use many stamps. That's what I do. I buy newer worthless stamps from collectors who don't collect anymore or Americans who can't use them for a fraction of the face value, then I use that to mail the items. Simple way to save 50% on postage.

Searched through one of the two boxes with older Canadian finds being: 1932, 1940, 1945, 1947ML, 1953, 1956(2), and 1959(2). This makes 58 George V's found to date. Also found a 2 Euro cent, a 1997 Barbados cent, and 4 wheat cents.

Searched through 5 rolls. 1 & 1/2 roll of Young Queens, 1/2 roll of George VI, and 2 rolls full of copper. 1 roll of skunkers. My luck is drying up.

After five rolls of nickles I found one badly scratched 1962. 2 rolls of dimes...nothing.

Don't do dimes in small quantities. Buy a $250 box, and use a large magnet. Nickels I seem to be getting 5 american and 5 pre 82 a roll

Hi folks - as you know, our coinage gets integrated and I thought I'd share some of this week's finds. I picked up someone's copper hoard the other day and there were several copper Canada Cents in the mix. Perhaps around 50 or so. Here is a sample -

Canadian-Roll-Hunting

Over the years, I've kept most the Canadian coins I've found; thought I might put together a collection of them. Oldest to date is a 1921 roll find some years ago. The coin is in excellent shape as I recall. I've also accumulated a bunch of nickels, quarters and dimes. I should probably put a collage together and post.

I have a similar coin I found last Monday. My oldest Canadian coin so far. I doubt I'll ever find older pennies though.

It was pretty dirty, so I gave it a soak in acetone and after the dirt dissolved guess what, verdigris showed up. There was verdigris under the dirt!
I feel like I'm always finding the coins with verdigris on it...

You may find an older U.S coin but 1920 is likely the oldest Canadian cent you will find.

Searched a box today with older Canadian finds being: 1940(2), 1942, 1944, 1947, 1951, 1952, 1956, 1957, 1958 and 1959. Also found 4 wheat cents, 2 Two Euro Cents, and an interesting 1994 D LMC which I posted in the Lincoln Cent thread.

It doesn't really matter if the oldest is 1920 though, I'm really happy to find a George V in good condition. First year mintage too.
Did find a few George VIs. One has a scratch on his cheek that makes him look sad. Since that one was minted after 1948, when you put it beside one minted before 1948, it looks quite funny.

1920 is the oldest Small Cent you can find in circulation for Canadian cents. Anything older would be a Large cent. Finding a 1920's is always a thrill. They have become far and very few between. Good luck with the finds and have fun.

If someone did manage to stuff a 1-inch coin down a penny roll, I won't know whether to laugh or cry.
