Question for all you nickel roll hunters, do you keep any of the 2000 p Nickels you find? I know they are rarer than the no p version, and have more numismatic value.

I have been on a streak and have now 5 or 6 of these.

do you all find as many? are they actually rare? do you keep them?

I keep all of the 2000P I find and also the 2001 no P. I've only found two of each so far, so I guess the rolls are better where you are

I finished my Nickel rolls that I got on Saturday, and I found 3 2000p and 4 2001 no p

When you regularly find these they don't seem to be rare enough to keep.

What about the 2001 Quarter no p, if you search quarters do you keep these as well?

I say keep them, less than 5 million of 2000P were minted vs almost 106 million 2000 no P, and 30 million 2001 no P vs over 136 million 2001P minted.

I have never found a 2001 no P quarter myself, but I would keep it. Less than 8.5 million minted vs almost 56 million of 2001P.

Thanks, I guess in a world where the gvmt is taking out the good coins, its good to know there are some things to look for in the plated coins.

Found a 1941 nickel today.
I have a bunch of 2000p nickels but am not sure what to do with them. I find 2001 no p regularly but even less common seems to be 1997.

1997 nickel? huh, I am sure I found one this week, but you are right, its odd when you start to notice the dates that do not regularly show up roll hunting.

Hey, I asked this in the main crh section, but got no responses, for those of us that roll hunt quarters and dimes, do you keep the 68-99 99.9% nickel ones?

I have been, but I have over $200 in both now.

For them to become better than face value the price of Nickel needs to go up 8 to 10 times.

Do you think the numismatic values will increase because of the ARP?

Thought?

I was keeping all my 1970 to 1981 nickels until recently. I'm going to be rolling them up and cashing them all in. I keep everything 1969 and earlier. This is just my opinion but I don't really understand the whole nickel bullion hoarding thing. You can't melt them legally, I've seen no one that wants to buy nickels for bullion prices. That's not to say there aren't people out there that would, or there isn't more than face value there in nickel alone. Maybe when and if the price goes up, which could be a long time. I'd like to hear more on the topic also.

Have you checked out the portland mint? They are selling Canadian nickels at $10 a pound. That is 2x face value.I don't see anyone buying at that rate though.

For quarters and dimes I only keep key dates.

I will have to check, but I think 1970 was a low mintage year, so I would keep them.

Picked up 3 bags (=3 boxes) and 38 rolls of pennies at the bank today. Went through the 38 rolls and made some great American finds including the following 132 wheat cents:

1917, 1917s, 1919(2), 1929s, 1934, 1936, 1937, 1938, 1939(2), 1940(6), 1941(8), 1942(7), 1944(7), 1944d(3), 1944s, 1945(3), 1945d, 1945s, 1946(12), 1947d(2), 1948(3), 1950(4), 1951(3), 1951d(7), 1952, 1952d(7), 1953(4), 1953d(3), 1954(2), 1954d, 1955(4), 1955d, 1956(2), 1956d(11), 1957(5), 1957d(5), 1958(2), 1958d(5).

No hole fillers but I really like wheat cents so it was still fun finding them.

I also found a few Canadian keepers but I will include those with the finds from the bags. For anyone wondering, the banks have heavy plastic bags with a predetermined fill line which represents ~$25 in pennies.

Went through one of the three bags with older Canadian finds being: 1936 (probably VF30), 1941, 1943, 1945, 1946, 1947, 1951 (high AU/MS), 1955(2), 1956, 1957(2), 1959(3). Also found 4 wheat cents, 1 Barbados cent, and a 2 Euro cent...along with a screw, a strange piece of metal, a small nail, and part of an earing.

Edit: Forgot to mention I also found a 2005P and a 2006P.
