We've been working on ours for years and I know what you mean about anything earlier than '31 being much more tough. You take great pictures as well! I'm guessing he chose 1934 because that's the year that the powers that be have decided divides modern lincolns and classic lincolns. It is also that year that pretty much divides expensive and not as expensive if we're talking registry grade and anything mintmarked. Report this Post to the Staff
ElmerFusterpuck Valued Member United States 113 Posts	Posted 05/05/2013 9:45 pm The main reason I chose 1934 and up is that it is the 'second half' of the wheat cents, the last 25 years. The first 25 years would be brutal in MS-66 RD, except for pieces like the 1909 VDB or 1930. I just swapped out the 66 1943-D for the 67 I had. The 66 has more luster, but the 67 is semi-prooflike and pretty sharp too. Report this Post to the Staff
jokingjoker Pillar of the Community United States 2150 Posts	Posted 05/05/2013 10:02 pm Very nice set! I too am working on this set in 66 rd for '35-'58. I still need 14 coins out of the 69 to finish the set. Some of the p mint post '46 prices can be brutal, as well as the '35-s. There was no way I would be able to complete the pre '34 pieces in 66 so I dropped my standard to at least 63. According to my registry set I still need 52 coins out of the 140 to complete the '09-'58 set but I have a couple of ANACS pieces I hope to cross, one being a'31-d in 65rb, no joke about that being a tough coin in high grades.
