2007 Twoonie With Off-Metal Core? - Coin Community Forum

Vance Valued Member Canada 50 Posts	Posted 06/13/2013 7:02 pm Ok so you might recognize this from a Colonial Acres auction a couple weeks ago. It was listed as a off-color twoonie. My question to you Twoonie/ off-metal specialists out there is should I remove this from the sealed pliofilm package, get the core analyzed, and have it certified? Who would be best to certify this? NGC, PCGS or maybe CCCS? Can I just cut it out and send it to the certification co. ? I understand this could be tested using XFE. SPP...could you recommend someone in my area to take on the task? Some of my coins were submitted to XRF: the core is absolutely normal - it is just the same alloy as the "normal" core. Important: there are people offering these sets for exorbitant prices. Some affirm the core contains a small amount of titanium. Titanium is present in the internal coating of the chamber of the XRF, pointing to faulty technique. Buyers beware.
