1955 Crack? Mark In Die? - Coin Community Forum

jgmick New Member United States 22 Posts	Posted 06/20/2007 6:14 pm One of the 1955 wheat pennies that I have put aside has a strange raised..what appears to be a crack in the coin..or a mark from a crack in the die... tmor Valued Member United States 159 Posts	Posted 06/20/2007 10:12 pm While laminations are technically errors they generally are a detriment to value. Buffalo nickels are famous for their laminations and they almost always lower the value of a coin. Your Lincoln Cent is an interesting example but probably isn't worth much. That being said, however, it is a cool circulation find and is worth keeping even if just to show as an example. Report this Post to the Staff

Only really a detriment to value when the coin would otherwise have value. For a common circulated Lincoln Cent, it would add value, but only nominally so because these are very common.
