My pocket piece: 1856-O half dollar. And I keep a red seal $2 bill (with all 4 corners nipped) in my wallet!
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

Quote: here are some of mine CarrsCoins I like your silver eagle. I saw a worn eagle on ebay a while ago, it looked exactly like a Walking Liberty half similar to yours. You can get those to look nice.

Don't just throw tomatoes at me. I have already bought coins that were with a hole, so I did not disfigure these coins, it was done by someone before me. But they fit my keys perfectly. Now it is clear that these are the keys of a numismatist.

Here are mine, I also have a clad half with a hole in it that I found roll hunting on my Keychain. I decided to use the 5 ounce as a pocket piece to see what one looks like in poor condition (I accidentally made it look cleaned anyway so I figured why not ). I also don't think I have enough pocket pieces, I need more! (just kidding, I already carry around enough junk with me).

While I've never carried a pocket piece, there was an elderly gentleman in our local coin club who gave a little talk on his favorite pocket piece a few years ago - a coin from his birth year, a 1928 Peace dollar. He had acquired an uncirculated example when he was a youngster and carried it for many decades until it was worn almost completely smooth. He said he always had a little bit of regret not just putting it aside when he got it . He was a beekeeper and always would bring jars of honey to club meetings for the members to purchase. The last jar I purchased from him was about a year before he passed away at age 93 in late 2021...

Quote: Current state of the small ones. Is the dime made out of silver to be that worn after 8 years as a pocket piece? *** Edited by Staff to add Quote tags. Please use them in the future. ***
