Quote: ^^ I agree with Lostwords. I got a gold Superman coin from the mint with no intention of keeping it. Don't really like the design. I'm going to flip it and buy other coins I want for my collection. Does that make me not a true collector? I think not.
That is exactly what I do: flip coins to buy other coins. I am talking about people who are NOT coin collectors who flip solely for the money. People who will move on to the next big thing. I question their passion for coin collecting. I have been collecting coins for 50 years and in the old days it was hard to "flip" coins. You generally collect coins and stamps because it was a hobby you enjoy. There was no ebay when I started collecting coins and stamps as a kid. There was no computers in the home, let alone the internet.

I'm a collector, not a flipper - I don't specifically buy coins to flip and make a couple of bucks - BUT I am an opportunist, while I wish I could afford to keep my Gold Superman - I expect to make a reasonable profit - RCM provides large allotments to coin shops who will make huge profits - why shouldn't I take my opportunity to do the same given the chance

The same I believe do all the people who ever entered to the hobby. But need to remember, by using your chance, you by default speculate on the shortage of supply and high demand of particular coin. When you sell for the profit, do you really think that this is the item's real price, or you just sure that the collector anyway will pay it?

Back to the topic of the coins. The more I've looked at the 1/2 oz coin, the more I liked it. I find the other two silver coins look redundant to last year batch of superman silver coins

Yeah....as set, all together looks good. But The 1/2oz really "looks like" a cover, and the other two - kind of illustration. On the second preference I would place the $15 with the classic Superman.
I have the 1/2oz "in hand" and it's really nice. Like small picture. I would be great on 2oz coin

The 2 oz idea would have been great seeing as how none of the current nor the past are over an oz in weight.

The Gold Superman coin became available at "The Coin Shoppe" for reduced price:
$1,233.75 (as I remember, previously was priced $1299)
Not clear, is it pre-order or the dealer has it "in hand".
Looks like it will settle on the 1300.

Quote: MoneyPenney stated in response to my challenge:
A true collector is someone who buys coins because they like collecting coins. They are not only into making money by flipping. While I do resell coins, I only use the money I earn to buy other coins. Sometimes I get rid of coins I don't like anymore. I rarely make money off them. Most of the time I am lucky to break even.
I also have a huge stamp collection. You rarely make money by re-selling stamps. I collect them because I like stamps. That is what a true collector is; you don't care about the monetary value that much. Thanks for answering my questions MoneyPenney. Now you are making sense.

Thank you just silver, I ordered 4. Seems like there's not too many left, or else there's a limit. For fun I wanted to see how many I could place in my cart. I could place 10 after I bought mine, however, when I tried to place the next 10, it stated not enough inventory.
Does any think this release will boost prices/interest in 2013 release?
I really like the design on the gold coin, I feel it's very sharp, better than 2013 image. Too bad it wasn't in my price range!! This next image I really like is the $10 coin. It's truly iconic & classic superman. I like this superman release alot better than the Disney coins. I'm glad I didn't get any Disney, other than steamboat Willie !!

I call on anyone decrying flipping. Ask yourself, if you had to sign a contract that every coin you bought could never be sold, and when you died had to be returned to the mint, would you still buy?
