I've sent the coin back for a refund. I checked the seller's other offerings and he does have yet another 1928-S Lincoln listed, so I guess it was an honest mistake.

Wow, I understand your disappointment. 1928D Lincolns with ANY red are tough to find. However, I somewhat agree with Conder, the surfaces look a little funny in the given pictures. It could just be poor photography, easy enough to tell because a coin with that much red should have some cartwheel luster left....but you'll never know...too bad.
