... of the 15 coins one was a FINNING error IKE
____________________________________
Finning
PART VI. Striking Errors:
Abnormally Strong Strike:
Finning
Definition: A fin is a thin flange that extends vertically from the rim/edge junction of a coin struck within the collar. It is caused by excessive striking pressure or a localized increase in striking pressure caused by slight die tilt. The extra pressure causes coin metal to squeeze into the narrow gap between die neck and collar. Fins can develop on either face or both faces simultaneously. A fin may encircle a coin or may be restricted to one pole. The latter is the kind typically produced by die tilt.

jbuck,
There was a time when I was able to sell "error" IKEs
.... from memory peggers, off center, toned, etc., but no FINNING errors.
.... best ever IKE sale was this year. A lowball.
A RAW coin. On best offer, caught a $150.00 offer. Net was $120-ish after FEEs.

Even if they are not profitable, they are still fun.

Hello all! Just caught up on the latest posts. We need some pictures of all these great finds! I've got the bug again. I'm going to go find a bank that can order me Ike's again (Hopefully). Anyone find a connection lately. Hoping to find some $1000 bags again!

I have never found an Ike in circulation. Assuming you exclude picking up dozens from my local credit union, than none.

I found 74 more Ike's today while hunting for halves. I have not found a silver Ike yet, but I have amassed over 200 clad versions so far. I cant get enough of this coin for whatever reason. I keep 1 in my jacket pocket at all times now. I will LYK once I find more to share in the fun. Happy Hunting everyone, good luck.

280 Ikes from 1 Bank last night yielded only 16 BU keepers for me.
Oh well, they're all fun.
