The older lady I handed them to looked at them suspiciously for a moment, turned them over a time or two, and for a moment I thought she wouldn't take them. I started to tell her they were half dollars, but she just dropped them in the change drawer, waved her hand at me in a dismissive manner, and mumbled something I couldn't understand.
