My last four boxes have had some pretty uncommon circulation finds. I found a 1916 Buffalo which is my oldest dated buffalo. Unfortunately it looks like it is speckled with paint or something but it is incredible to find a 95 year old coin. I also found my fourth 1951s, my third 1950 plain, my second 1943d, and my third 1938s. The 38s is NICE!

Had a good box on Friday. Found 2 war nics, several 60's & 80's bu, 2 x 2009D, and my first 2011D.

It's been 8 boxes since my last buffalo so figure another should be coming around pretty soon. It's probably been 35+ boxes since my last proof.

Just wondering what the 80s BU is? Wow, I guess I've been lucky with buffalo, pretty much find at least 2-9 in all my boxes. Yes, one box 9! Silver is usually 2-4(only one with 4) I have been finding quite a few of the discolored 2008P and look like a batch of the nickel has the copper showing somewhat. Anyone think these are worth saving? In very good shape. Also, only 1 2009 and 1 2011 all total in the about 700 I've been through. Is anyone separating into years? I ended up doing so before 1980 since it was easy to do while going through the rolls.

I really wouldn't be surprised to see that! The silver proof sets for 2011 are not for sale starting today. The Mint cost was 67.95, with a 'value' of about 63.00 earlier. (5.06 for non silver and the remainder for the silver value at today's spot)

I searched 140.00 the past 2 days and no silver or buffalo but many prior 1960, including a perfect 1940, 1942,and 3 1939. I will continue. My first box of halves will be on Monday.

Not roll searching, but I pulled a 1950P today while cycling nickels through a vending machine.

I Was so excited at first when I saw the date, but what a disapointment when I flipped it over. Oh well, still can't be mad with a 50P.

Hi all. I am a very new collector and I'm still trying to learn the basics of whats what. To start my collection I started making a book of Jefferson nickels. Except for several 40s and 50s and of course 2009D/P I have almost filled my book(excluding proofs). As I was reading this thread, great thread btw, I noticed alot of people talking about the 1950D nickel. I looked through my book and realized that I have one. Then I decided to look through the other pre-1970s that I kept and I found one more. Now I've only gone through maybe 50 rolls at this point and I have found 2 1950Ds. So I was wondering, what makes this coin so special or rare? I would be very grateful for any feedback or advice. I live in a very small military city with no coin shops within 2 hours so all I have to learn from is books and forums like this. Thanks for the help!
