As promised earlier, here is a comparison photo showing the difference between the '41 large and small S.  I did a little reading and found that while the large-S variety is less common than the small-S, there is no real difference in the price of each coin. In a way, it is similar to the 1982 large/small date cent varieties. I have 2 nickels that are certainly a large-S variety, and one that appears to have been struck with a filled die, but is probably a large-S. |

Yeah, I thought I had found a large-S once. Turns out it was a small when I compared it to a 46-S I had.

I just checked an I have 14 1941 s nickels from roll searching. I think only 1 was the large variety. Too bad it doesn't have extra value like the small date 1970 s cent. That would make it more exciting to find.

Box #34 down silver- 1943P-  would have nice details except it has about 12 different rust spots on it. 34/30-30 silver no buffs no V's foreign- 1984 2 cent from Australia! 4 canadians, 2 pre-82 Dates: 40-S 41-S 48-S Forgot to add- 1997 Fish Nickel plus 1983 Cud on neck-my second nickel Cud. I was going to ask the same thing, It looks like the date would restore real easily. About a week in good strong white vinegar would probably do it. Does it have a mint mark?

I didn't know it could be restored. and there is no m/m.
So I just drop it in a cup for a week? should it be in sunlight, cool area, does it matter?

Yeah dude just drop it in a cup for a while but don't let the vinegar evaporate or it'll trun the coins green. If it does evaporate, just add more vinegar and the problem will fix itself.
@murry-I do about a box a week. Sometimes 2. As you know I also do dimes and every now and then pennies.

Yeah I do the same. About a box a week, occasionally 2 but not often. And I do 1 to 2 boxes of dimes a week. and maybe every few weeks I will do a box of cents.
I'm hoping to get a box of nickels tomorrow if I have time in between school and work.

I find for the vinegar that if you leave the coin in longer even after the date is visible, you can get a really nice date to appear. Almost looks original! Btw, I did buy 500 datelss buff on ebay and went through them, I am trying to decide wether to complete a set and sell it (vinegar dated) or see off individual coins. I think the former would bring more money. |

BTW @murry I also do whatever halves I an get my hands on, which is never much-usually two or three CWRs when I am LUCKY.

Have you found any silver halves yet? I've done like $140 and haven't had any. Just one proof. I wasn't expecting to find any in that much, but I can hardly ever get my hands on halves. And all of the ones I searched were already dumped by someone else.

Yeah actually I have, in two CWRs I found 18 40% and 5 90%. Other than that 1 40%er from a teller. I feel like this should be in JKF thread-well it is actually. But yes murry, it just takes volume, as you and I both know
