I'ts great watching you plug away. You must show us your set in pictures. DO you plan to stop when you get the last hole filled?

Absolutely no way that I will stop when the holes are filled ...... that future point is where I begin the never ending process of upgrades and hope .. Hope is where we dream of a Shield nickel ... or perhaps a valued Liberty Coin ... or ... an upgrade to my circulated collection ... or ... whatever. The experts here at CCF have been so kind to help educate a middle-aged enthusiast .... and the knowledge I have today empowers me to be a better collector as I search my rolls every night. My personal thanks to all of you for your shared wisdom. David

Did another 100 rolls last night with the following results:
28 - Pre-60's 1 - war (44P) 1 - Canadian nickel (2000)
Pretty poor boxes on the pre-60's.

Was doing a box of nickels last night and happened accross my second V nickel of the year. The first one was a 1883 no cents. This one is....well quite unreadable. All I can make out is the top of the head, stars on the left side, what appears to be 18 in the date and the bottom of the wreath on the reverse. I tried soaking it in nik-a-date but it is too far gone. Completely rusty and worn down. What could have been...this might have been that 1885 in a previous life. Oh well.

I can relate AGCoinHunter .... That "V" Nickel sounds a lot like my ONLY "V" find in 108,000 rolls ..... it was so worn and rusted that I actually (forgive me here) took steel wool to it to even know that it was a US coin. It's horribly ugly ..... a 1x9x date ...... but it's mine. David

nickelsearcher, common logic determines it is a 189X dated V nickel. I just had to let out my technical side, okay?

coppernickeldaddy, I was curious, what supplier do you get your nickels from ? Brinks, Loomis, Dunbar?

I prefer Brinks (the shrinkwrapped rolls); I seem to hit Warnickels better in those. Besides, I dump all of my searched coins at a bank that uses the paper wrapped rolls (I have been trying to figure out for the longest time what the name of their supplier is; no teller will tell me stating security reasons!). Guess I will have to camp out at one of their branches someday to see what armored car pulls up! I was buying their nickel rolls for a short time, though, because as far as cents were concerned new rolls of 2009's were showing up there, and I was hoping for the possibility of new 2009 nickels. Of all of the Brinks boxes I have ever opened I have NEVER received newly struck coin in them, either cents or nickels!

Your most recent update makes me even more envious CND. As you find another 1939-D, I've yet to find my first. Nonetheless, congratulations, you deserve to reap the rewards after the number of rolls you have searched so far.
