At work today this penny jumped out at me because of its color, looks almost like brass? Then I looked at it with my loop and found alot of bubbles, and raised metal? Any ideas on this?

Plating bubbles. Post '82 cents were plated with a very thin layer of copper - 8 microns thick.

I compared the color with 4 other 1987 D coins and it is totally a different color, almost yellow like brass?

Color changes quickly depending on environmental exposure. Although this may make it appear a different color, they all started out looking the same. Your example has a particular problem with bubbling of that thin copper layer, but it ads no value.

Looks like paint. Copper is bared on the high spots of the relief and the rim.
