Extra Bit Of Metal On Edge Of Lincoln Cent Obverse: Is This An Error?

I agree with John1, it is a relatively common (and generally much less valuable, although you never know...) type of Cud called a Rim Cud. There is no actual "extra metal", the planchet just expands more than normal to fill the void in the die after the broken piece falls away. Report this Post to the Staff
