Found this Wheat penny and on the reverse where the stalk on the left side, appears they either dropped dye or maybe doubled stamped it or extra material? What do you think?
When a device is partially filled on a die, some parts of a device will be missing because of the grease in the die. It prevents the devices to be formed. This can some from a blob of grease in a device or after wiping a sie with a cloth part of the device gets un-evenly blocked. Sometimes devices are altered by the Grease Fill or are totally missing if there was a lot of grease in the dies when you coin was struck. The 80% block and more are the interesting ones to error collectors. Just a partial blockage is common and not as desirable to collectors.
