I see this is for Commemorative "Coins" and not medals. I realized I goofed up and got away with that Jefferson Bicentennial Medal. I snagged a Young Astronauts America in Space two medal set tonight and thought to myself ... "Hey you can't post that here. It's not a coin!" So I won't. Sorry about that.

Here's an interesting piece. 1992 Poland 50000 Zlotych, commemorating the 200th Anniversary of the Order of Virtuti Militari, Latin for Military Virtue. Poland's highest military decoration for heroism and courage in the face of the enemy at war. It was created in 1792 by Polish King Stanislaw II August and is one of the oldest military decorations in the world still in use. Coin is an eight sided octagon in shape. 32mm across, cupro-nickel.

Neat 8 sided 50000 Zlotych coin. Nice and big like a US Half Dollar. Makes one wonder how small a 1 Zlotych coin would be!

Crispus Caesar, oldest son of Constantine the Great Crispus wears the Consular robes and holds an eagle-tipped scepter to celebrate his second consulship; 321 AD BEATA TRANQVILLITAS, meaning Blessed Tranquility; the "world orb" set upon an altar inscribed VO TIS XX, anticipating 20 years of peace and cooperation between emperors Constantine and Licinius. The uneasy peace between Constantine and Licinius of course boiled over into civil war in 324, in which Licinius was defeated and killed and his six year old son Licinius II was sold into slavery. It was a nice thought though. Crispus never succeeded his father because Constantine's jealous wife went full evil stepmother and tricked her husband into executing his favorite son in 326.
