In 1944 blank planchets of the 1943 steel cent were used for minting these Belgium 1944 2 franc coins at the Philadelphia Mint for the liberation of Belgium and to help stabilize their economy. This coin is very hard to find in attractive condition. Here's mine in MS63:  |
