Titles are Important! * I was looking at a quarter the other day and noticed these three very small almost crescent or "D" shaped marks on my coin. Any clues as to what they are? spru Bedrock of the Community United States 12477 Posts	Posted 09/08/2017 02:15 am Yes, it appears to be a contact, or "bag", mark from another reeded-edge coin. Like Crazyb0 said, it happens frequently in mint bags full of coins. When the coin denomination has a reeded edge, then you get those marks instead of a single mark from a plain-edged coin like a nickel or cent.
