Dot Between T And A On 1863 Indian Head Cent

cearnan New Member United States 46 Posts	Posted 05/03/2008 8:08 pm I have been trying to figure out what this could be between the T and A of STATES on this 1863 Indian Head cent. If it were near the date I would assume that it was left over from a previously ground off date, but I can't imagine what this is from. Any ideas? foundinrolls Pillar of the Community United States 3507 Posts	Posted 05/03/2008 8:53 pm This is the result of what is called a "die chip". A minute part of the die breaks out leaving a depression in the die. That depression in the die shows up as a small raised spot on the finished coin. Thanks, Bill Report this Post to the Staff
