Kinda looks like a black sharpie marker. Not a woody. It would not be a woody anyway because of the date,it would be roller lines which this is not. Sharpie. John1
Quote: I agree that a black Sharpie marker was used and that's probably why it won't come off.
So let's just try this before we make statements.
I'll be darn, NOT Sharpie marks as they came off within a few minutes of soaking with Acetone!! It also cleaned the cent too of surface gunk, except for that mark above BE .
it's stained and corroded. If it was a Traditional Woody or a Lamination error (which can be found as recently as 1982) the lines would be much more parallel. Modern Woodys thought to be from roller marks can be found through present date.
Wooah! I bet that would burn going down! Thank Goodness though, it probably wouldn't hurt for long. Hopefully any 1%ers contemplating the deed will first read the warning label on the can. Never ever drink Acetone! It will kill you in less than a minute. Betty Ford drank nail polish in rehab, it was all she could get. Acetone makes nail polish look like sweet tea. Don't do it!
