Here is a Pfennig of the German Bishopric of Würzburg. It is undated, but was struck between 1375 and 1380 AD and can be attributed as Saurma 1315, Piloty 857, and Ehwald 5003. The obv inscription is WIRSBVRG while the rev inscription is +GERHARDVS. My example is pretty typical in that the inscriptions were not well struck, although occasional letters are visible. The left-facing lion on the rev has an open mouth and a protruding tongue.   "If you climb a good tree, you get a push."
