Quite refreshing Dorado!

1935 San Diego Exposition
V-8 Ford Exhibit Medal

A-Continuing-Thread-~-Post-Your-Tokens,-Medals,-Exonumia-Acquisitions

I won a 1935 V-8 Ford! . . . medal that is.
I have seen a gazillion Ford tokens or medals in my Exposition searches over the past couple years for various years.
Be careful, some have been reproduced.

This one will accompany my newly acquired unused ticket to win a Ford at the 1935 San Diego Exposition.

So it makes a nice mini collection. I plan on getting a post card just because that will show the Ford Exhibit building that was there. It will replace this photo below.

A short video showing the different body types for Ford in 1935.
What beautiful cars. They were so fast with a V-8 engine that Bonnie & Clyde just had to steal a 1934 V-8 Deluxe.

I prefer Pepsi, but the Blue Oval makes the best Trucks. Period.

I was at my favorite LCS and there was a box of tokens/medals that the owner had not yet gone through and priced. I did not have time to do a deep dive but this bronze 1961 Medallic Art Co Grant and Lee in it's original box was near the top. I don't have a single Medallic Art Co piece in my collection. He priced it at $5. I was happy to have it. I have enjoyed many of them that have been posted throughout this thread.

I'm going to try to get there later today if I can. I don't have much "dry powder", but I have a bit of random silver I can trade if I see anything special to me.

I was able to spend some more time there this afternoon. I picked up a few pieces. All of them are Bronze. Four are Medallic Art Co. They include a Statue of Liberty/Ellis Island medal,a George Washington medal, and two Kennedy inauguration medals. I also picked out an ANA diamond jubilee medal. I traded him two one ounce silver rounds for these, so I feel good about the price I paid and feel they will make great additions to my small exonumia collection.

Theodore Roosevelt National Memorial Park was created 1947 by National Park Service, division of Department of Interior. With an area of 68,700 acres, the park includes the famous Badlands along Little Missouri River and part of Roosevelt's Elkhorn Ranch, North Dakota.
This medal commemorates the 100th birthday of Theodore Roosevelt born October 27, 1858.

Roosevelt first visited the Dakota Territory in 1883 to hunt bison. Exhilarated by the cowboy life, and with the cattle business booming in the territory, Roosevelt invested $14,000 in hopes of becoming a prosperous cattle rancher.
For the next several years, he shuttled between his home in New York and his ranch in Dakota. In the end he probably lost about $50,000 due to his rising political career and inability to manage his ventures at his cattle ranch.
The Elkhorn Ranch was established by Theodore Roosevelt on the banks of the Little Missouri River 35 miles north of Medora, North Dakota in the summer of 1884.

When Roosevelt returned from the Cuban campaign in 1898, he found himself widely acknowledged as a national hero. In the same year he was elected Governor of New York, and then elected Vice President of the United States.
An assassin's bullet less than a year later killed President McKinley and Roosevelt became President.
At that time, he was the youngest man in history to assume that office.
While making a tour of the West in March 1903 Roosevelt stopped in Medora where, as he described it, "the entire population of the Bad Lands down to the smallest baby had gathered to meet me." In 1911 he again made a short stop in that Badlands cowtown, and from the rear platform of his private car, shook hands with his former acquaintances.
