Good Deal mrv! Quote:This will be my last buy on ebay for some time, as I spend too much time on ebay. Hate to see you go! Was just looking through some ebay Purchase notes going back over 10 years. I won't stop until I'm physically or mentally unable to do so. Too much potential there............................

...Just in today's mail ... As a small-time cob collector, this is exciting ... I was high bidder (14 bids), & I guess the other bidders failed to recognize what this coin is. The title stated "Silver Cob - Unidentified" ... It is a very rare cob from the Bogota, Colombia mint. Bogota silver cobs are much more rare than their gold cob counterparts, as there was very little silver available at that mint. What silver they had was gained as a result of the process of removing other metals out of & purifying the gold. All Bogota silver cobs are very rare. This one is exceptionally rare, as it displays a lot of edge detail, including all 4 date digits (1649) ... less than 10% of Bogota silver cobs show any date digits, & I've not seen a 1 real with as much other edge detail as this cob ... a full king's ordinal (Philip IV), a good amount of crown detail, well detailed & centered shield & cross, lions & castles, as well as the mint mark, assayer initial, & denomination mark visible. It is full weight to boot (3.442g). I got this coin for less than 1/6 of it's value, & couldn't be more pleased ...
