About 3 weeks ago I cancelled all my listings on ebay. I was sick and tired of them changing my listings to suit THEIR sales and marketing plans...not mine! Specifically if you remember they were arbitrarily changing my listing from a BIN to a BIN with Make Offers. Apparently if a listing languishes for over two weeks, they "jump in to assist you sell" by doing this. Only problem is, I found out they were doing this when I received a bid of 50% of my already reduced and rock bottom price. I had to decline of course, and talk my way out of that one with a customer. So, I just today decided to relist an item I had cancelled. Not 10 MINUTES LATER I received this email from them:

Gee, notice anything familiar? By the time I was able to take off ebay's assistance of taking my $25 to $12.50, I already had one friggin offer! I will leave this item up and see if at the end of the month even with 50 free listings they charge me a fee again like they did last month!

That's pretty annoying. I don't like it either. I think that it's absolutely the worst thing they've done on there.

Story of the Buy It Now seller. The same item was on ebay for 2years as BIN for $1000.00. I offered $950.00 and was rejected. Seller could have accepted mt offer and placed the $950.00 into saving fund at 5% per year and made $1045.00.

What commonly available non equity "savings fund" is paying 5%?

That's part of their changes I was talking about a while back. If you have a listing and have it BIN w/make offers, they will automatically set the default to 50% of the price you're selling it for, rounded to the nearest dollar. So, if you're selling an item for $22, they will set the default to $11. I individually override this on every item I list so that the minimum I can be offered is 75% of the listed price. All other offers are automatically rejected.

For example, I have this nice, well-struck EF-40 1922-D Lincoln up for $41 at the moment. Well, some chump offered me $20 for it (in other words, the value of it in Good-4), and it got automatically rejected thanks to my default settings.
