last night I found just eighty-eight cents, but I also scored an unopened bottle of spring water. that was my coffee this morning. tonight I picked only sixty-six cents, but I also scored a pair of very-slightly-used Adidas sneakers, size 11 (that's my gunboat feet size), very clean. i'll fumigate them and sock them away. that's awesome. I have several pairs of shoes in storage. i also found a small crescent wrench, equally as awesome; I use a crescent wrench each weekend at the hot dog stand, so now I have a wrench I can take to the cart and leave it there, I don't have to keep bringing mine with me each weekend. I can put it back in my toolbox. ...and, for the frosting atop all of this, the only quarter I found tonight came from an ice machine coin return:   "wow, you gotta be kidding me!" is what I said upon discovering the only quarter that I picked tonight is a 1943-S, a silver quarter, WWII-era. it's been ten years since I pulled a silver quarter from somewhere. |

COFFEE & A COOL COIN........... ......Heading home from Knoxville, TN few weeks ago, early one morning, my wife & I stopped in Silver Point, Tn., for some coffee (HWY 56 exit off of I-40 West). This little Shell station had a Bunn coffee dispenser that portioned fresh roasted beans, ground them, & dispensed fresh-ground coffee ... absolutely the best coffee from a dispenser we've ever had ... Delicious ! (we're "coffee snobs, & very picky about our coffee ...I grind our coffee each morning...) ...For all you coin hunters, & coffee lovers, I'm giving this place a plug:  ......I used a few IKEs with my payment, got my change, & we left ... ...sorting through the change at home, I found this 1945 P Jefferson in the change ... 1st time I've seen a War Nickel in change in over 50 years ... I was pumped ... after a few weeks in acetone, the coin looks presentable ...   |
