Nice coins everyone

Erafjel - Love your posts, I always learn something new about Scandinavian coins - an area that fascinates me. 1873 was the year I think Denmark and Norway also adopted a decimal Krone system, and with my Denmark stamps noticed before 1873 they had a system of 96 Skilling = 1 Rigsbankdaler.

It was me who showed all those worn silver 10 ores and decent 5 ore coins.

@Princetane - Thank you for the kind words. And although UK and Commonwealth coins are outside my area, I always look forward to those educational posts from you.

Denmark decided on decimalization in 1873 (and coins were minted but not taken into use until 1 Jan 1875), so until then it was, as you point out, 96 skilling to the Danish rigsbankdaler.

Norway introduced decimalization in 1875. Until then, there was 120 skilling to the Norwegian speciedaler.

Sweden decimalized the currency already in 1855, then with 1 riksdaler = 100 öre. Before that 1 riksdaler was divided into 32 skilling.

Going further back in the 19th century, it becomes more complicated, with two types of dalers in Denmark and Norway and three types in Sweden, each with a different number of skillings, but that is another story...
