1982-D Quarter With Obverse Doubling

CentHunterJ Valued Member United States 120 Posts	Posted 08/15/2020 02:32 am Hey, I found this the other day. It's got some serious spread in the motto, but also all the way around. I know this year has some Master Die Doubling, so I'm not too ecstatic yet. But I've never seen spreading this obvious in real life before this. The quarter is in pretty good shape too! coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 08/15/2020 3:28 pm Remember. This year had the spreading master die. The devices were moving towards the outside edge touching the rims. Even Machine Doubling pushed the devices further into the rim area. This was a gradual process. You can see the devices moving towards the rim. With a new die created, the original design was replaced with the newly created master hub in 1983. Note the locations of the devices and the size of the heads. The swelling outwards affect all the coins devices. This was seen on all of the 1982 quarters from all mints. Report this Post to the Staff
