Vietnam doesn't use coins. Only banknotes are in circulation. Here are some of the smallest denominations. 1. 1000 Dong 1988. 2. 2000 Dong 1988. 3. 5000 Dong 1991. All banknotes have Ho Chi Minh on the front. Father of the nation. A city in the south of the country is also named after him. American readers may know this city by its old name, Saigon. Surprisingly, the 2009 coins from the "States and Territories" series turned out to be the most expensive in the series. Fortunately, I got these coins quite inexpensively.
