Make that three times now within a week: I just got charged another $30 in tax on a $330 Buy It Now. I'll be calling in first thing on Monday for sure, this is ridiculous.
They should be charging tax on behalf of the State only on the cost of their services, not the whole product. Sales tax on the coin itself has already been paid by the previous owner in acquiring the coin in the first instance.
What's crazy is that I'm in Texas where there is no sales tax on any coins or bullion. Whether or not sales tax is prohibited depends on the location of the buyer, not the seller. However in my most recent situation, both myself AND the seller are in Texas, so there should have been absolutely no confusion at all!
What really stinks as a seller, is they are basing the seller fee on the total buyer cost, including tax. I can live with it but feels kinda like double billing.
