Making a brief return to the classic-era US commemorative coin series...here is an example of the 1934-38 Daniel Boone Birth Bicentennial Half Dollar. The coin's reverse design features Daniel Boone and Chief Black Fish (alternatively, Blackfish) engaged in negotiations (that would prove unsuccessful) regarding the Shawnee Chief's siege on Fort Boonesborough; the pair are in the foreground, with Fort Boonesborough in the background at left and a rising sun in the background to the right. Though not prominent, the sun is shown rising over the Cumberland Mountains, a part of the Appalachian Mountains range.

very nice Commem - is that closeup of a different coin than the one in the slab?
On the slabbed coin, the date is underneath the 2 standing figures, but in the close up the date is above 'Pioneer Year' to the right of the figures.

I created the zoomed in view for a post I made about the "Small Date" variety of the Boone coin. I used it here because the mountains and sun in the background are the same on both varieties.
