Serial Numbers On German Banknotes - Coin Community Forum

Topcat7 Pillar of the Community 1121 Posts	Posted 06/29/2023 6:41 pm I recently purchased a 1923 10 Billion Mark German banknote with the serial number 00588* imprinted upon it. I now see that the seller is still selling the same banknote with the same serial number on it. Also, I notice that another seller is selling the same banknote with the same serial number. I would have expected the serial number on such notes to be 'unique'. Can someone please explain this to me.Can someone please explain this to me? Report this Post to the Staff

The piece is notgeld. They usually, as you say on the other post, have different serial numbers. Make sure or ask the seller if it is a copy! Report this Post to the Staff

walk2dwater Pillar of the Community Canada 2588 Posts	Posted 07/02/2023 09:39 am I highly doubt the note is a copy since a good copy can be more expensive to produce than just buying these hyperinflation notes in quantity. They were cheaply produced & never gained much value. Also, many sellers use just 1 stock photo & that will be the reason you see the same serial number.
