Failing eyesight can vary, and this might not be the same thing, but I remember having similar feelings just before I started wearing glasses just over ten years ago. I did not enjoy looking at coins as much as I did. I also remember the first time I looked at my coins with my new glasses. I felt reborn.

Failing eyesight can go in different directions. I have a strong myopia, and it's a big part of how I enjoy looking at coins - if I want to examine smaller details, I just take off my glasses!
But if it's something other than plain myopia, then yeah, it could be problematic.

I am jealous he does not need readers or anything to look at small stuff or PC screens. However, when driving he cannot see ten feet ahead without glasses.

1. Spend more time enjoying and looking at my collection, rather than focusing exclusively on filling holes. Use this time to narrow my collecting focus and figure out what items I'd like to sell, trade, or give away. Given financial constraints, don't begin collecting any additional series. 2. Fill at least one hole in each of my Three Cent Nickel, Barber dime, Washington quarter, and Australian shillings sets. 3. Fill three holes in my Mint Set collection. 4. Acquire at least 6 modern US coins on my Want List. 5. Fill at least three holes in my Dansco 7070. 6. Transfer at least half my coins from 2x2s and Mint Sets to Dansco albums. Keep existing inventory up to date with new purchases.

Sorry to hear from those who are undergoing health/life changes. I was not at all active with coin collecting for two decades while launching a career and family in my 20s and 30s, and can relate to some of those feelings.
For me, pretty much the same as last year, though slipping in this first one:
1. Catch up on processing acquisitions from 2024 (not a lot, for better or for worse, but I seem to be getting more disorganized in retirement).
2. Continue to add early dated/datable coins in the 1400s, 1300s and "decade coins" earlier. Last year's goal was 3 to 5, and I wound up with 11 (5 dated and 6 dateable). I'll go with a goal of 5 this year, since I think the dated ones will get tougher.
3. Continue to grow collection and knowledge of saints on medieval coins. Last year I added 14 in this theme, and 15 the year before.
4. Continue work on Numista catalog. I've still got some cleanup/restructuring in early Low Countries coins to complete.

As always, I will strive to get a handle on which to grade, which to sell, what to buy ... putting my collection into a "manageable" condition for my heirs (will require some education on their part).
I have a large amount of "extras", as defined by coins included in purchases that were NOT my target. Cherrypicking a seller isn't my style ... most of the sellers I come across, as a non-professional, are friends / relatives that have acquired a generational collection and don't really know what they have. Sooooo ... I'll sell a bunch of those (maybe here) and then decide what to buy with the proceeds.

I expect to spend much less this year as I think we are in a once in a lifetime opportunity to create wealth via the stock market. Tech earnings will allow me to buy those items on my list at some point in the future. That said, I will also continue on last year's goals 1. Continue CBH date set 3. 1908 NM $10 Indian 3. 1927 Peace 4. DCAM Franklin 5. Mint '25 Morgans / Peace issues 6. 1804 spiked chin 1/2 cent with nice reverse Cuds7. 1936 or 37 proof coins (start with buffalo) 8. Flowing hair dollar or half dollar 9. 1881 CC $1 GSA 10. 1885 CC $1 GSA 11. Cherry-pick rare silver Also, prepare for 2026 issues (1804 gold dollar) Many of these are not realistic but will continue to be on my list.
