The next numismatic find is even more mysterious than the previous one. This is a token for the Pellets Island in NY. The fact is that this island is also not indicated and not listed in the lists of New York islands. But the Google map shows the area on the continent along the road and an old cemetery on this island. I did some research and found an explanation for all this: (c) William Pellet was a farmer in the region in the late 1700s and is the source of the name of this hill region. Since he was buried here in 1799, the cemetery carried his name as well. The "island" was a hill that was about 100 ft higher than the surrounding grounds. As you can see on the map if you change it to satellite view, the surrounding land is part of the famous "drowned lands" {now called the Black Dirt region}. Before the lands were drained, it was swamp land fed by the northward flowing Walkill river for 1000s of years since the time of the glaciers. At one time, the glaciers moved into the area. After the glaciers receded hills called moraines were left behind. These hills looked like islands during the wet seasons of the year. Hence Pine Island, Middle Island and Pellets Island areas are the names that were given to some of the more prominent hills in the area once humans started naming things. This cemetery existed from at least 1799 when William Pellet was buried to sometime in the spring of 1956, when the grounds were excavated by the Orange County Sand and Gravel Company (with permission from the Orange County Court). Today, the area is owned by a cement and gravel company. The location is on the south side of the Pellets Island road (Co. Rd 37) across the road from the former Pellets Island School which was sold in 1944 and is now the Church of St. Andrew Bobola..This token is also known only in a single copy and this is the only photograph. Who is John Pahucki Jr. is unknown. Please note that in reality it is impossible to collect and buy such numismatics, therefore this type of collecting is possible only as a virtual game with the search for photographs and other information. Do you find this game interesting? I was told that in the archives of one of the auctions they saw a message about a similar token with a denomination, but without a photo. This token without a denomination: Pellets Island, New York, John Pahucki Jr. token

wiki (c) Association Island is a 65-acre (0.26 km2) island located at the northern tip of Stony Point, a peninsula on the eastern shore of Lake Ontario. A part of the Town of Henderson, New York in Jefferson County, the island is about 16 miles (26 km) southwest of Watertown. A 1,300-foot (400 m) two-lane causeway connects the island to the mainland. In 1905 the National Electric Light Association bought the island, which resulted in the name "Association Island". NELA management used it for meetings. General Electric, after it acquired NELA in 1911, also used the island for company meetings. The Elfun Society, a management organization and think-tank within General Electric, was founded on the island in 1928. The society's logo was a drawing of a large elm tree from the island. General Electric donated the island to the YMCA in 1959, and the Elfun Society was dissolved by General Electric in 2014.Among all the archives of photographs from auctions, I was able to find only two tokens for this island. One copy had a hole punched through it, and only one photo of a whole copy: Association Island, The Old Elm, GE, Camp Merchandise,1926, NY, token

The quote above listed several islands that are now shown on the map on the mainland on land: (c) These hills looked like islands during the wet seasons of the year. Hence Pine Island, Middle Island and Pellets Island areas are the names that were given to some of the more prominent hills in the area once humans started naming things. The island of pin is mentioned and I started looking for tokens for this island in New York. And I found five different tokens. Four types of different plastic tokens in red, green, yellow and white. And one metal token with a face value of 15 cents. Like some of the previous tokens, it is known so far only in a single copy and this is the only available photo: Pine Island, New York, Krajewski's Tavern Ted, 15c token wiki (c) Pine Island is a hamlet in the town of Warwick in Orange County, New York, United States. It is the largest community in the Black Dirt Region, which is famous for its "black dirt onions." It gets its name from its slight elevation over the surrounding land. In the days before the nearby Wallkill River was rerouted to control flooding, it would often be an actual island for a period in the spring.

Sorry, but Pine Island is not an island! (I know because I lived nearby as a child).
It is about 50 miles inland from the Atlantic ocean. As you can see from the names on two of your tokens (Pahucki, Krajewski), there is a large Polish-American community here.

Yes, there is a token of this island with a Polish eagle. The symbol of Poland is the white eagle depicted on the country's coat of arms. It is a white-tailed eagle sitting on a red background:

It's interesting that you're in Ohio. But you're mistaken that you have few islands for which there are tokens. I know of more than two dozen different islands in Ohio for which there are numismatic tokens. And in particular for South Bass Island there are about three dozen tokens of different types and kinds. Personally, I try to find not just a token related to the island, but one on which the full name of the island is written in full. And there is a whole series of such tokens for this island. And for the neighboring islands too. I specifically researched what numismatics there are for South Bass Island, in different categories. There are tokens of different types, metal and plastic, there are elongated pressed cents of different series, there are wooden nickels, and commemorative medals. From all this, you can even compile a separate catalog specifically for this one island.) sic! For example, there are two wooden nickels with the full name of the island, one with a lighthouse, the other has a denomination of 25 cents. South Bass Island, Ohio, wooden tokens, Lighthouse Penn-Ohio Money, & 25c token:

There are also silver commemorative tokens with a fineness of .999, in this series I know of two variants. The first shows a lighthouse and the full name of the island, and the second shows a map of the entire island. South Bass Island, silver, 1996, 1997:

For the sake of the game, let's imagine that we started looking for tokens for other islands in Lake Erie, Ohio. Near South Bass Island is Middle Bass Island. The only numismatic token I've found so far about this island is the Lons Dollar: Middle Bass Island (Ohio), Lonz Dollar

Nice research! I had guessed there must be some tokens for the Perry Monument, which, at 100 meters tall, is quite a visible historic monument. The others for bars, marinas, etc. are typical of highly touristic places. Although there are many small islands (most uninhabited), South Bass is the only one known to most Ohioans. Thanks for expanding my knowledge!

Quote: Although there are many small islands (most uninhabited), South Bass is the only one known to most Ohioans. Thanks for expanding my knowledge! I'm glad you liked it! I have collected photos of all the numismatics on the islands in the state of Ohio, for the development of the theme and the game I will simply list which islands in Ohio have their mark in numismatics in my list: Catawba Island (tokens) Hoppe's Island (tokens) Johnson's Island (token) Kelley's Island (many different tokens) Schmieder's Island (Earl's Island, token) Turtle Island (wooden nickel) West Sister Island (wooden nickel) Whiskey Island (tokens) and a number of other "islands" that are islands only in name and are associated with entertainment and there are different tokens. I can show you if you are interested. And here's another mystery. There is a token that says " Vac islands" and I can't find it on the map. It is supposed to be in Lucasville, Ohio. The token says the address but I can't find it. Can you explain the meaning of "island"?: NORTH OF 348 ON 104 - is this some address?
