The .50 oz is available again this morning and they lowered the price $50 to $3,040. They lowered the prices on the other weights too but various amounts. The .10 oz is on remind me status.

I just called the mint, cancelled the order, it hadn't been shipped yet. They said it would take a few days for my checking account to show the cancelation. I may order another at the cheaper price or maybe wait a while. I'm not as excited about getting one as I was release day. If they sell out, oh well.

Looks like the mint dropped prices again, the .50 oz is now $2,990. Still pretty high premium with gold spot drop.

And now, they need to drop the prices on the silver and clad products.

The mint lowered prices again on the dual date gold proof eagles due to lower gold spot. If they drop again next week and I may buy the .50 if still available. Don't look like they dropped the ASE prices.

Interesting.

Meanwhile, all the annual Mint sets are still expensive.

Why not just wait a while and get it from ebay for a a little over spot?

I have ben looking at 1986 PF-70s and you can get one for $4700

The 2006 Reverse PF-70s are going for around $5k

Buying after release on ebay can be cheaper. But it depends some on mintages, a low mintage one can cost more on ebay than mint prices when there's more demand than coins available. For example the 2024 silver flowing hair medal is selling for a lot more than release price with about 50K final mintage. Of course spot prices affect the cost too.

Ungraded coins/medals on ebay can have flaws, light scratches that a seller wants to get rid of. If they don't offer returns you are stuck with it. Buying from the mint you can send it back with free shipping label if you don't like it. I've returned several coins to the mint due to flaws. Not all coins from the mint are MS70.

We'll have to wait and see if the 2026 dual dates bell privy will have a high collector premium in the future.

With such wild swings in spot prices it's hard to know when it's a good time to buy LOL.

Personally I just "feel better" about getting my coins direct from the Mint. Your know it's not fake or had been sent in for grading and not a good one so put back in OGP. All sorts of things like that I probably shouldn't worry about. US Mint direct to me.
But I'm not really into it for the profit. I think there are many like me. More passion driven. Either you get it or you don't, no harm, no fowl.

Yes, buying on ebay etc has a risk of fakes. On ebay I mostly buy from the well known dealers or from long time sellers who offer returns/refunds.

I was talking about buying NGC PF-70 graded slabs from well know precious metal sellers like APMEX, Mbarr Coins, Pinehurst, etc.

Plus I was just looking at Key Date coins, you can get random year PF-70s for spot.

I'm sure the 2006 Reverse Proof PF-70 sold for a lot more than the mints asking price in 2007 but now it just a little more than spot.

I'm actually looking to put together an small collection of key date coins and so far only the 1986 Proof and 2006 Reverse Proof have made my list.
