1970-S Small Date Doubled Die Obverse / DDO Doubled Die Reverse / DDR Red Lincoln Cent

Jjpe Valued Member United States 121 Posts	Posted 05/25/2026 3:39 pm Going through my Lincoln Cent I came up with this 1970 s small Dave DDO DDR. Looking at the obverse you can see what appears to be a nasty die crack running rim to rim through Lincoln's head. But after studying it it looks like it took a hit and busted through. There's nothing on the reverse to indicate it's there. The date the s mint mark Liberty and In God we trust all appear to be doubled. And it's red. On the reverse everything looks doubled and you can see the continuation of the die crack from the front of the coin. So please tell me what's going on with this Lincoln Cent thank you very much Report this Post to the Staff

FsdWarp10 Pillar of the Community United States 674 Posts	Posted 05/25/2026 7:19 pm with everyone above. For me the easiest way to tell a small date from a large date is to look at the curl of the 9. If it points to the mm it is a large date. If it points to the 7 then it is a small date. The fonts are different and this shows up best in the 9. Report this Post to the Staff
