Today I'll add some toners. What is your grade?

second look. MS63 they may bump it for the toning however I think the reverse eye appeal will net that out. theres more chatter on the cheek than I originally saw

Oh no! Panzaldi, you called this one correctly with your original response. It is Unc Details, questionable toning. I'm not sure I agree with this one as there are layers to the toning color changes except maybe at the TY of Liberty. I'm not one to crack and resubmit as the cost is high the first time around, but I think this would straight grade at PCGS / NGC. Let me know if you see something different. I'd love to learn.

While I am disappointed in the details grade, I am more disappointed in the images from CACG. This coin is much brighter than what is pictured below.

I've seen dark toning like this on coins that have been close to or in contact with leather for extended periods. The roughly rectangular less-toned area on the reverse likely was from a piece of gauze placed between the coin and the leather to protect the coin. That isn't AT. It's a natural result of late 19th and early 20th Century coin storage. CAC far too frequently calls toning AT. It's a common criticism of CAC.

I agree with MS-62 as the underlying technical grade because of the deeper knocks on the chin.
