chrsmat71 Pillar of the Community United States 4970 Posts	Posted Yesterday 9:50 pm Recently picked up a guy not as yet represented in my collection, Quintillus. Quintillus, 270 AD, AE Antoninianus. Obv.: Radiate, draped bust right; IMP C M AVR CL QVINTILLVS AVG Rev.: Soldier, helmeted, in military attire, standing left, resting hand on shield and holding spear; B to right, VIRTVS AVG Rome Mint, 21 mm, 3.7 g. I honestly couldn't exactly remember who he was when I got the coin, I have trouble keeping all the "crisis of the 3rd century" gang strait. He was a brother of Claudius Gothicus, and took power after CG's died of a pandemic disease of the time. Quintillus had a short reign (some debate, maybe a few months), before dying a very unnatural death (suicide or murder by his soldiers, you know the usual Roman emperor stuff) before being overthrown by Aurelian. If anyone has a Quintillus or a favorite Claudius Gothicus or Aurelian, I would love to see them! Edited by chrsmat71 Yesterday 9:51 pm Report this Post to the Staff

Dearborn Moderator United States 97163 Posts	Posted Yesterday 10:36 pm it looks like it could be this coin in Numista - it has no images 'yet' but the lettering are exact as whet you posted above (with one exception) Antoninianus - Quintillus VIRTVS AVG you posted the lettering on the obverse as: IMP C M AVR CL QVINTILLVS AVG but could it be: IMP C M AVREL QVINTILLVS AVG ?
