First I should say.I'm really new here and to coins in general! Hope y'all are patient. :)
Thought I should clean this coin up to see better, but always heard you have to be careful cleaning them, so I'm asking for opinions on what's up with the coin first. Is it very worn or not pressed well? And what is the line running through Washington's face? Is that a minting issue or post-circulation?

Not easy to get good pics.hope you can see what's up.

To CCF! It's a badly damaged quarter. Maybe damaged by heat. PMD, not an error. Worth 25 cents.

to the CCF, cav4!
Yep, I agree with Errers - it looks like your quarter has been through a fire.

to the CCF

Yep - it's a damaged coin, likely from high heat.

Agree with all above--heat appears to be the culprit. Could keep the piece as an interesting curiosity.
