Spent a significant amount of time this AM trying to straighten out my Ptolemy Æ's
Five years ago I purchased a decent sized lot of bronze from Switzerland and then simply put them aside for later efforts
Must admit I had some second thoughts about the purchase ...
My 'anuerism' (2022) made me even more reluctant to ponder over such tedious minutiae

But now I need organize this "mess" lest my heirs put them all out with the recyclables !
Well the wife anyways ...
My daughter shows much more promise
My son ? Well he just might trade them all for a few video games !

So this one came with 'ticket' complete with a detailed attribution
(ruler Ptolemy II denomination Diobol weight ref # etc)
Rather curious control mark too .... hmmmm
How convenient ... Now to just confirm it all !
Well I spent well over an hour trying to focus 'mine eyes' on both acsearch and Ptolemy AE Project

Finally in desperation I simply 'googled it'

AE Diobol Ptolemy II Svoronos 206
Bingo !
Up Came a SOLD Vcoins listing complete !
And there was my answer as why I was coming up empty for an hour
Zut Alors !
Ptolemy I 'Soter' not Ptolemy II 'Philadelphus' !!
Needless to say 'slightly' more desirable eh ?
And she is rather attractive too
Lovely chocolate brown quite sharp and a major improvement on my other Ptolemy Soter Æ

So here goes

Æ Diobol Alexandria 305-282 BC
Obv Laureate Zeus Ammon right
Rv ΠTOΛEMAIOY BAΣIΛEΩΣ
Eagle standing left on thunderbolt wings spread
ΛΠΜ monogram in field
27mm 16.48 grams
Svoronos 206

A-Ptolemy-By-Any-Other-Name-?
A-Ptolemy-By-Any-Other-Name-?

Feeling much better about this purchase now
I think its a "keeper"
Sometimes it pays to double check !

Fantastic!

I hope your heirs appreciate the due diligence.
