Latest Banknotes Acquisition. List Them Here.

I've been having a hard time finding the missing currency from my Type Set of Notes from Portugal. My local dealers have none, my usual internet places have none, that leaves me with ebay which is usually lower on my list of the places to go. But even ebay doesn't have the notes in the US. I reached out to walk2water for advice and was told that my chances aren't great with buying from Europe and while I trust the advice I needed to check for myself. To limit my risk I went with fractional notes from Portugal as they are less expensive.

On April 3, I ordered 3 notes, 1 from Portugal, Spain and Greece.

The notes from Portugal and Spain shipped on the same day. The note from Spain got to my home in 4 days. The note from Portugal was updated on 4/5 as shipped to US and thats the last update so no update for 7 days.

The note from Greece was mailed out on 4/8, 5 days after I purchased it. So far the only update is Tracking Number has been created.

What did I learn from this.... Buy notes from Spain, don't buy from the other countries ;)

So what did I get?

A 20 centavos fractional, PICK 102 which was dated 8/4/1922 and is the last of the fractional notes printed. Note was printed by Waterlow and Sons, London.

International mail services are presently under a lot of pressure again.
A small package that I had posted to a buddy in Australia (from Germany) in February needed 66 days! At least, it arrived eventually.

Some updates, the note from Portugal has appeared in the US, hopefully I'll get it by Saturday.

The Greece note no updates, but in terms of better news, the same note was available as an auction from a US based seller and I won the auction for less than the note from Greece cost and its out for delivery. So win/win. If I don't get the note from Greece, I'm not out.

It was from a swap. Mine took less than 1 month: his didn't arrive until 3.5 months later (mind you it was during the 2nd wave of Covid). I doubt you'll be able to use your Spanish lightening fast overseas arrival as your 'yardstick.'

Trying to fill a couple of gaps. Not much value since there seems to be very few US notes in stock anywhere in the UK. Bought this from ebay, incurring delivery and tax costs. Generally I am not a fan of certificated notes but off ebay I can probably except such a thing.

Just missing a Lincoln 50c now for the fractional notes.

Also added a Dardanelles note... its the 10 shilling T15, will upload when it arrives. Not the greatest condition but rare and desirable in any state. Just missing the £1 Dardanelles to complete a pretty complete British collection... prices start at a good few thousand for that note so I'll be lucky to ever find one that fits my requirements.
