I ended up getting the note from the US and the note from Portugal is out for delivery, so 12 days from Portugal to my house. Still no update on the note from Greece. But the one from the US was a replacement for the Greece note. If I don't get it in a month I'll file a claim with ebay and at $16 all in, it's not a big loose.

My current Portugal fractionals.

@daviduk,

That's a really nice Justice! Especially with the Red Back. I recently completed a type set of US Fractionals, the Abe 4th issue is the most expensive one to find especially in good condition, most are VG/F and AU/CU very little in VF/XF.

Thanks, your Portugal fractionals look interesting too... and fresh.

Condition for my 4th series Lincoln is not too important if I can find one in the UK at a fair price. Postage and taxes just pushes the stuff from the US well above book values. It's a shame because I like a lot of the US notes... educational series snd Buffalos and the like are just ruled out not just because they are expensive in tbe first place but because I don't like overpaying.

-Yes, I share your pain @DavidUK. I have an order coming from the US & I paid more than I'm used to. Now I'm just hoping that I don't get an extra "hit" by any extra import duties.

So some updates, the note from Portugal came in. The note from Greece is in the US (woot woot). Today you get the note from Portugal.

This is P-98

This note was issued on April 5, 1918 along with 2 other 5 Centavos.

These notes were a replacement for the 5 Centavos coin as coins where in short supply. In 1921, bronze 5 centavos were issued and the fractional currency was called in.

2 new notes, both wartime overprints one from the first and one from the second world wars.
Latest-Banknotes-Acquisition.-List-Them-Here.

This 10 shilling note was overprinted by the Turkish for use in the Gallipoli offensive which ultimately took Churchill out of politics in disgrace. It's not in great condition but it's a difficult and expensive note to obtain... the £1 even more so than the 10s. I have been after one for ages and am willing to except a slightly tatty one.

When Germany occupied some English isles during ww2 there were issues with not enough small denominations in circulation. The locals appealed to the germans to issue more (they had insisted on the use of German currency) and they said they would only do so if English currency was lodged in return. £5000 was lodged and a second batch of a similar amount and these notes were sourced as those selected for destruction (and thus typically these overprints are not on high grade notes) and they stamped them before handing them to the Germans making them essentially useless. After the war most were destroyed but about £3000 remained in the safe of an antique dealer possibly in cahoots with the Germans. After his death they reached the market.

Continuing the saga of notes from Europe. The Note from Greece has reached my local service center and there it stays :(

The new note from Spain has already been shipped to the US. Wonder if I'll get it 4 days like the last one :)

Here are the times for 4 notes.

4 days from Spain to US
11 days from Portugal to US
5 days held and 9 days so far from Greece to US
3 days held (holiday in Spain and weekend) and 2 days so far from Spain to US

Note is Pick 97 and with this one I am missing 3 of the Escudo Fractionals issued by Casa Da Moeda.
