Post An Ike (Eisenhower Dollar)

Admittedly, I felt I could not resist the trade Darth offered me. As a part of the trade I told Darth I would like to find the only Ike I did not have, the 1972 Type II. He nicely told me he found my lack of faith disturbing, and told me to search my feelings to see if it was true that I really doubted him.

So he sent me pics of a really great MS grade "King of the Ikes." I almost felt as if some strange force was surrounding me, penetrating to my deepest thoughts, and binding me together with the decision to finally make my Ike set complete.



So , Master, I now have a complete set of Ikes


I am also excited now that the extra 1970 of mine found a home where it will be appreciated as much as I appreciated it.

Goodness gracious! I love the "Darth Morgan" you came up with. I am literally laughing as I type this. No joke. So many puns. So much awesomeness. Thank you for the kind words, my friend.

And guys, that '72 T2 looks soooo much better in hand. It is a lovely golden bronze color and has a kind of toning pattern similar to the one in my set. When taking straight-on slab shots my lighting setup illuminates the plastic very well but not the coin, especially a darker coin like this one. Perhaps you could take a new picture of it, Lee, and show it off proper.

It was with a 1977 Kennedy half. I like
the Cameo. Can anyone tell me the silver
Content, I took a magnet to it and no stick.
I'm thinking 40%.







I bought this Proof Ike (Brown Ike?) original
mint packaging is all scratched. Plastic looks
warped. It is a beautiful toner with a nice cameo.

Your 1976-S Ike is a variety 2 reverse, so it is Cu-Ni clad. All of the 1976-S 40% silver Ikes (both proof and uncirculated) are variety 1.

Hehe. Good grief. I didn't even pay attention to the reverse.

There were a LOT of magnificent Ike toners on Great Collections Sunday night, but I only managed to grab one- a 1974-D PCGS MS64. The colors are very pleasing, and they actually appears more vivid in hand.





And I got these 9 1973-S silver Ikes for a best offer of $8 each on the bay. You can't get 'em much cheaper than that on ebay. One of them is going to Mr. Hughey to be skeletonized.
