Thanks - truth be told it was like surgery. Look very close and you will see the image is a metal tea leaf strainer in the shape of a death star that I found online. I cut the image out and put it into place over the earth in jbuck's picture (after adjusting softness, etc. a bit). It was a rather quick job I did not take much time on.

It would be great to find a hobo nickel carver and have them make one of these!

It also would e fun to have a carver make the moon surface the Eagle is landing on into the Death Star surface.

Glad it got there safe and sound! Whatcha got left now?
The two holes are 1971 and 1972 from Philly. Still trying to decide if I want to do all three Philly varieties for 1972.

I also need to "upgrade" the 1971-S and 1972-S uncirculated coins that I have in NGC holders.

Once those four are done I will go after the 1990, 2013, and 2015 Ikes.

If that really was from Darth, wouldn't it look more like this?

Couldn't help myself once I'd thought of it. Had to see how it would look. Another fast job though.
Difficult to find pics of what the continents on Alderaan look like also - so made it similar to some pics.

Nice one 1369. I have several that I got as a kid. My great-uncle always seemed to have one in his pocket to give to me.

I attended a small coin show this morning, and I spotted these two in an old Dansco album. There were nine awesome toners in that book altogether, all clad, and when I asked how much for the nine the dealer somehow came up with.... $192? Geez. I think he got a little happy adding that color premium. But EVERYTHING there was overpriced, so whatcha gonna do?

An interesting 1971-S Proof Eisenhower dollar sold recently. Read the letter.

The redaction of this letter is my doing as I am researching the recipient and the coin.

The letter indicates that this coin was gifted by the Director of the Mint two days after President Nixon presented the first piece to be struck to Mamie Eisenhower at a White House ceremony on July 27, 1971.

Post-An-Ike-Eisenhower-Dollar

It was a missing opportunity on my part (I was made aware of the auction after it concluded).

Where was this sold? Heritage? ebay? This is most likely the Type 1 Reverse.
