Coinkat-1964 and everything older than that. Unless you find a silver proof which will be a proof with silver edges.

Just picked up a box of dimes and 8 rolls of customer wrapped. First Box of dimes I've ever bought so I'm hoping for at least one silver. Otherwise just going back to random rolls from random banks.

Went through another $100 today and found 2 in 1 roll: 1963-D and 1964-D. 3/48. I now have 3 from $220 so that makes me on average 1 dime per $75!

My box of dimes and the 8 random rolls earned me 1 59D in good condition.

My question is I've already completed two clad dime sets w/o proofs. My question is would I be able to identify a proof just from the edge? It would save me a lot of time and hassle.

Thanks

Today, I talked to a cashier friend I know, and asked her if she ever gets silver. She said she just found a '28 Merc in change the other day! I asked if I could buy it, but she said no. Apparently, she's a collector, too.

She's a smart lady and wouldn't budge. I finally realized I could trade with her instead. Once I told her about my collection, her eyes just lit up!

Hello All,

I have pretty much did halves and quarters with absolutely no luck. Seems once I get them at my local banks, they have already been scanned.

So, today I chose to pick up some dimes. I found that tellers do not mind at all giving dimes but it seems that asking for halves is really not looked highly upon.

In my first roll, the second dime was a 1958 D. I have about $100 total to go through and hope I will be the odds and find another silver.

About two rolls after I made my last post, I got excited. I thought I have another silver
but it turned out to be a 2005 British 5 Pence coin.

Now, it is not silver but it is interesting to find a British coin amongst these loose rolls. I think
I may have just became hooked. (Man this is already addictive.)

With experience, perhaps. Someone posted a proof cent the other day, and with both sides available to examine, only one person figured it was a proof.

Modern proofs generally have very thick sides and great detail.

Halves are a special order, dimes are used daily.

Just grabbed 3 boxes and 250 loose from four different banks. Hoping it works out for me, I could use a win.
