I got 100 in CRW, nothing. Ordered two boxes , only 1 1964D. Sigh........I want some of these results like you guys get. Although, I did find a 42 Merc in a drawer at work :)

Other than silver, what should I be searching for in dime rolls? I seem to find a lot of later era 1960s, but all > 1964. I'm new to roll searching, and could use some tips from the masters. :) I searched though a handful of customer wrapped rolls this weekend (one was short - only 49 dimes), but I didn't find any silver.
How do you handle shortage/overages? Does it all work out in the end and you just don't worry about it?

well to answer your question Zhunzi I don't count what is inside of the rolls. I reroll whatever there was inside the rolls so I have no idea if I was short or had too much in each roll. Some people use coin counters instead of rerolling, so they would know that way if they were shorted. Next I search for proofs that got released for whatever reason into circulation. "s" mint marks on the front of the coins is an indication of a proof coin. You can also find a mintmark of a W on the 1996 dime. Rare to find in circulation. I found one a while back, here is the link to the picture I posted in this thread a while back http://www.coincommunity.com/forum/...96w_0001.jpganother one to search for is the 1982 no P dime. I have yet to grab one other then that, die cracks, foreign stuff, canadian silver, whatever strikes your fancy remember have fun!

I also save 2009 dimes because a lot of people have trouble finding them and they had a lower mintage then most modern coins

Cool, thanks, I wrote that down. I had a couple rolls of dimes here I was going to return to the bank and just searched them, no hits. I'm not sure I know what I'm looking for on die cracks, double strikes, etc other than I guess it would just look weird, or have a line down the dime.

Welcome Z! I've searched dimes for about 5 years straight. The key to successful dime hunting is volume. I try to pick up $500 to $1,500 in cwr or boxes at a time. Keeps costs low. I go through about $20k in dimes a year. If you want lots of silver dimes, or dime oddities, you gotta search piles o dimes. Hope this helps, ffd

I've searched 2 boxes of dimes this week and been skunked...seriously....what is going on? Dimes are reminding me of the halves now. Thank God for beginners luck on quarters today. Otherwise, I'd be pulling my hair out.

A 1964 silver find, its been awhile. Z you'll be surprised at some of the stuff you'll find. I've found several foreign coins, a rapid transit token from Hawaii (pre statehood and WWII) 1924. And even a plastic toy dime from some game. Ha Ha! Good Luck.

got 2 63d and 3 64's out of the bag. Not bad at all! that makes 12 silvers out of 2 $1000 bags.
