The rims gradually get wider during the process, causing the coin to look thicker if you were to look only at the edge. There is another ring making process where a whole is drilled in the coin first, then the coin is turned (halfway) inside out on a mandrel by hitting it with a rubber mallet. It would sort-of have this kind of look to it a one point, but would have a hole in the middle. Report this Post to the Staff
